Senior photo tips

Have fun planning for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Follow these tips to ensure a great senior session and amazing senior pictures.

1 to 2 weeks before the session:

  • Get your haircut

  • Go shopping for a new outfit or two.  I recommend a timeless or classic outfit, something fun and trendy, and an everyday outfit.

  • When planning out outfits, keep these tips in mind.  Dark colors seem more slimming, while light colors draws more attention to our body.  Large bold colors and bright patterns can be distracting. Shirts with large logo's or graphics are distracting as well, and date the photo.    Simple solid colors are always a good choice.  Long sleeves de-emphasize your arms and play up your face.

  • If you are going to tan, do it now.  Definitely avoid tanning  just before your session as you'll appear red and tan lines are distracting.

1 to 2 days before the session:

  • Lay your outfits out and be sure they are free of wrinkles.  Remember to grab the shoes, belts, and accessories.

  • Grab additional accessories such as scarves, hats, jewelry, etc.

  • Get your nails done.

  • Don't forget any props you want to incorporate into your session, such as sports equipment, uniforms, musical instruments, etc.

Night before the session:

  • Get a good night sleep.

  • Bring your makeup and don't forget to shave.

  • Don't worry about acne or scratches, that can easily be fixed during retouch.

Day of your session:

  • Have fun and relax!  It'll show in your portraits.

  • Bring your favorite music, if you want to have to have that playing during your session.
